Garling Studio is a boutique jewelry workshop nestled located in Port Townsend, Washington. With half of her year spent immersed in the untamed wilderness of Bristol Bay, Alaska, the artist draws profound inspiration from the rugged landscapes and raw beauty of the region, infusing her creations with a deep sense of the wild.
In crafting Garling Studio's brand, my aim was to weave together a modern aesthetic with the untamed essence of Alaskan wilderness. Working closely with the client she voiced a desire to pull in some of her Swedish and Northern European heritage and I incorporated subtle nods to these ancestral roots, adding depth and richness to the brand's narrative. Through a careful blend of contemporary design elements and rustic, raw textures, the brand will evoke a sense of adventure and connection to nature.

About
Joe Upton is a Bainbridge writer and fisherman with more than twenty years experience exploring the waters of Alaska and British Columbia. Among the list of books to his credit are Journeys through the Inside Passage (1992) in which Upton recounts seafaring adventures along the coast of British Columbia and Alaska.
At Creative Faculty, we're thrilled to have had the opportunity to craft a bespoke brand identity package for Joe Upton’s Alaska. Central to our design approach was creating a friendly and simple logo that embodies the spirit of Joe's publications and maps, reflecting the warmth and accessibility of his content. Drawing inspiration from the breathtaking landscapes of Alaska, we curated a palette of colors that captures the beauty and diversity of the region, infusing Joe's brand with a sense of authenticity and adventure. Our goal was to develop vivid yet approachable collateral that immerses audiences in the richness of Alaska's stories, evoking a sense of wonder and curiosity. With this brand identity package, we aim to help Joe Upton’s Alaska stand out and resonate with readers, inviting them on a journey through the captivating landscapes and compelling narratives of the Last Frontier.

We had the privilege of collaborating with Bay Hay and Feed, an esteemed local icon and beloved store on Bainbridge Island, to refresh and update their brand identity. With a rich history and a deeply ingrained connection to the community, our goal was to honor their legacy while infusing a fresh perspective into their visual identity. Working closely with the client, we embarked on a journey to modernize and update their logo and color palette, ensuring it remained rustic, local, and instantly recognizable. The challenge was to strike the perfect balance between preserving the store's nostalgic charm and infusing a contemporary edge. Through careful design considerations and thoughtful iterations, we achieved a logo and brand tone that reflects the essence of Bay Hay and Feed: authentic, welcoming, and deeply rooted in the local community. Alongside the logo refresh, we created new merchandise and print materials, establishing a consistent brand tone that resonates with both loyal patrons and new visitors alike. With this revitalized brand identity, Bay Hay and Feed continues to serve as a beacon of tradition and community on Bainbridge Island, while embracing the opportunities of the modern age.
